I figured a real mp3 blog like Popsheep or something would post something about The Weather, but instead you get me saying they sound like Talking Heads or Joy Division. Which is usually when I stop reading a review. The Weather's from here, Vancouver, they have an un-googleable name (which I think is really the new "wolf" (take that horses!)), and yeah I guess they sound like Talking Heads at first. But it definitely doesn't feel like Talking Heads. Kinda like how My Dad is Dead sounds like Joy Division, but doesn't feel like Joy Division at all.
This is why Popsheep should have wrote about The Weather.
Anyways, they've released an album this year called Stolen Billions and here's the stand out track:
I'm guessing the only place to get their album is at their live shows. The local indie stores didn't have it, and their site has no mention of how to get it. However, their media section has a few more mp3s:

The new winner of the "Kirk Van Houten Award for Excellency in Song Naming" goes to:
Slayer - Consfearacy
from their upcoming album Christ Illusion.
Really, I just love posting that picture of Kirk.
Past Winners:
Black Eyed Peas - Don't Phunk With My Heart
Oasis - Guess God Thinks I'm Abel
Youth Group - Why Don't the Buildings Cry?
Some MP3 download links from my Myspace "friends":
Gil Mantera's Party Dream was one of the craziest shows I've seen in a while. He's posted the Fleetwood Mac cover they've been performing live:
Dreams. Gil should do a Zapp cover. Or at least 2Pac's California Love.

The Nice Boys debut album will finally be released August 29 on Birdman Records. They've been nice enough to post an mp3: Johnny Guitar.
One of my favourite singles from last year didn't make the new album, but you can download it from their unfortunately-backgrounded myspace: You Won't See Me Anymore.
Careful, the above mentioned mp3s are all missing ID3 info, so be sure to tag them in case you're listening to Unknown Artist - Unknown Song later. Also, myspace downloads sometimes download without the .mp3 extension, so add that too.

Also from Portland, The Thermals have posted A Pillar of Salt from their upcoming album The Body, The Blood, The Machine. Thermals kick fucking ass.

These Arms Are Snakes have a new album coming out October 10 called Easter which:
...explores the relationship between suspect animism, impending otherwordly[sic] doom and the ethereal battle between virtue and ruin.
Pretty much exactly what I do in my spare time. Here's Horse Girl.
