sometimes people ask me why i call myself the champion of the universe. it's because i'm the best.

it's especially humourous when people challenge me for the title. my response is always the same:

"who are you to challenge me? i'm not the first contender, i'm the last. you've got an entire universe to challenge before you can even get anywhere near me."
and then i wash my hands of the person and send them on their way. defending this title is easy when you're witty.

how to make a list of your mistakes and regrets

get a piece of loose-leaf paper. not the new kind where all the colours look off and have "Hillroy" branded at the bottom of each page. find the old kind you had in high school where the lines were light blue instead of dark blue, and the column line was more pink than red.

now that you've got the right paper, at the top of the page, write down "my mistakes and regrets". now flip the page over. this is where you will show your work. draw a line down the middle. on the left, write down all the names of people you have loved. on the right, write down all the names of people who have loved you.

now cross off the names that appear on both lists. copy the names that remain to the front.

your list of mistakes and regrets is now complete. plus you have shown all your work.

alternatively, you can just do this.

want to know when you've sold out? when you're on TV holding a bucket full of the product you're hawking.

Jason Alexander is such an embarrassment to his eminence George Costanza, who is a hero to us all.

some recent bands and their respective genres i've been listening to lately:

AFI - goth punk. been listening to this album a lot lately. where else am i going to get words like discarnate and preternatural to use everyday?

Turbonegro - Norwegian gay death punk. are you ready for some darkness? most rock now lacks balls. this is rock with balls. goth punk and death punk...two genres made just for me.

Manic Hispanic - latino old school punk from a bunch of ex-cons:

Manic Hispanic came together in the early-1990's as part of a work release program. The idea was formed by OC Probation Officer Freddie Gomez, "I thought if I could keep these guys on a stage, they would stay out of trouble on the streets."

Yeastie Girlz - political all-girl acapella rap. ah the good old political all-girl acapella rap genre. my favourite genre of all!

The Locust - spazzcore.

"Either you hear it, get it and embrace it, or write it off as unintelligible noise distinguished only by bad taste. Both views are probably right..." - Aversion.
exactly. i can't explain why i like unintelligibile noise sometimes. i just do.

this has been more music talk. this will all eventually be posted elsewhere. stay tuned for that.

in an email exchange recently, we were talking about music shame and in my whimsical and casual ways, i made a reference to myself appearing from my "46-2 shadows" to warn about the dangers of liking Creed and then quickly disappearing. in a reply, i was asked "what are 46 - 2 shadows exactly?".

the following is my response. links have been added. some of it has appeared on this site in the past.

46 and 2 and shadows. its actually a TOOL reference to their song "Forty Six & 2", but the major underlying principles relate to chromosomes, (Carl) Jungian theory, and the teachings of Drunvalo Melchizadek. I have read extensively about these topics because TOOL is my favourite band.

i shall attempt to explain. nobody usually asks when i drop obscure references like that. they just assume it's a "pinder thing" and move on. most of the long version is culled from faq's online.

SHORT VERSION

Shadow:

Carl Jung called "the shadow" a dark space in our psyche that all of us have but none of us like to admit is there.

Meaning of 46 and 2:

There are 3 different kinds of humans on the Earth, meaning that they perceive reality in three different ways:

42 and 2
44 and 2
46 and 2

the numbers refer to chromosome composition, double helix, DNA.

42 and 2 comprise a unity consciousness that does not see anything outside themselves as being separate from themselves. to them, there is only one energy - one life, one beingness that moves everywhere. Anything happening anywhere is within them, as well. they are like cells in the body. they are all connected to a single consciousness that moves through all of them. tribes in Africa are like this.

44 and 2: this is us. a disharmonic level of consciousness. how else can you explain George Bush? its a stepping stone from the current level to the next level...

46 and 2: the next level of human consciousness. all it takes is 2 extra chromosomes.

ok, so the short version wasn't so short.

LONG VERSION

Shadow:

In Carl Jung's personality theory, the ego represents the individual's sense of personal self. The sense of personal identity is purchased, however, at the expense of certain tendencies that are rejected as 'not-self'. According to Jung, these rejected traits come together as a kind of unconscious 'counter-ego' which he termed the shadow. The shadow is the most powerful and potentially the most dangerous. It represents everything about ourselves that we fear and despise.

Meaning of 46 and 2:

According to Drunvalo Melchizadek, our planet is covered with geometrically constructed 'morpho genetic grids'. These grids extend from about 60 feet under the Earth's surface to about 60 miles above the Earth, arranged in geometric patterns. Before any species can come into existance or make an evolutionary step, a new grid must be completed.

A new grid was completed in 1989 - the 'christ-consciousness' grid. This grid will allow humans to evolve into our next version. We'll develop two additional chromosomes (which are really 'geometrical images' designed to resonate with our specific grid) for a total or 46 + 2.

The main change will be a shift to the "unity consciousness". Every cell in your body has its own consciousness and memory. You, the higher being that occupies your body, make the millions of different consciousnesses in your body work together as one being. How does this relate to this grid? Think of yourself as a cell and the grid as the higher being. We will still have individual consciousness, but will be united in the form of a higher being in order to work as one entity.

i can write pages and pages on virtually every other TOOL song as well.

there's a reason why i'm a good listener. it's because i have no idea what you're talking about.

there's a reason why i'm funny. it's because you're not.

there's a reason why you forget. it's because it wasn't important.

there's a reason why i don't forget. it's because it was important.

there's a reason why i sleep in now. it's because when i couldn't sleep, i used to say to myself "i'll sleep when i'm dead".

there's a reason why you haven't heard this song before. it's because it wasn't on the Grammy compilation CD you bought.

there's a reason why i'm not myself right now. logic. if myself is now, then not-myself would be not-now. i'm a ghost.

there's a reason why you like talking to me. everyone likes talking to ghosts.
